Cows only produce so much methane because they’re fed corn, which they can’t digest, because it’s cheap. They’re also kept in cramped conditions, making them very susceptible to disease - so they’re fed antibiotics to such a degree that they’re manure is too contaminated to use as fertilizer, meaning it’s just piled up to rot instead of composted, producing even more methane. Those antibiotics also need to be mass-produced for this, and carbon-intensive chemical fertilizer needs to be made to replace the productive manure that they’re not creating
Cattle-raising can actually be carbon-negative if they’re responsibly grazed and incorporated into more interconnected farming operations. It’s the colonial capitalist mode of production that’s the problem
